Bethany Hedt-Gauthier is an Associate Professor in the Department of Global Health and Social Medicine at Harvard Medical School.

She specializes in health systems research and implementation science to optimize care and outcomes, particularly in rural sub-Saharan Africa. Her primary research is on care pathways for women delivering via c-section, including the use of mHealth technologies to support community health workers to provide postoperative follow-up. Bethany and her collaborators recently won first prize in the NIH Technology Accelerator Challenge for this work.

Part of her portfolio includes the study of equity in global health research collaborations and includes building and evaluating training models for in-country research.
